Pin Solitaire

May 22, 2025 - June 22, 2025

The Pin Solitaire exhibition by artist-curator Josianne Bolduc features personal and historical accounts of Mena’sen Rock, also known as Rocher au Pin Solitaire.

Gleaned from the wanderings of artist Josianne Bolduc, or from the collection of the Musée d’histoire de Sherbrooke, these stories offer a vivid image of the Rocher, where diverse realities (historical, identity-related, relational) intersect. In this way, the history of the Rocher Mena’sen is revisited from a personal perspective rooted in today’s society.

Artist-curator Josianne Bolduc comments: “I was particularly drawn to the Rocher au Pin Solitaire, a rocky islet in Sherbrooke’s Saint-François River, which I photographed and filmed several times during walks in winter 2022. Perplexed by the presence of a metal cross overhanging it, I initiated research at the Musée d’histoire de Sherbrooke the following autumn. There, I learned about the importance of this memorial site for the region, past and present. From then on, I wanted to rediscover and share the history of the Rocher au Pin Solitaire.
